On the Road with Softball

Good morning from Orlando, Florida! The WC softball team has made the trip south to the Sunshine state to compete in the Rebel Spring Games this week.

I have been traveling with the team since last Thursday night, when the Shorewomen participated in the Sea Gull Invitational held in Salisbury last Friday and Saturday. We returned to WC on Saturday evening at around 6:30 p.m. from the invitational, and departed Chestertown at 4 a.m. on Sunday for our flight down here to sunny Florida. The flight down was smooth and fast. We landed 25 minutes ahead of schedule, at around 9:15 a.m. However, by the time we picked up our luggage and settled some issues with the car rental company, we didn't actually leave the airport until 11:30 a.m.

We are staying at a villa just a couple miles away from Disney, and when we came here to check in at noon time on Sunday, none of the rooms were ready. So we went to lunch down the street at Subway, and by the time we got back we could at least get into a couple of the rooms, which enabled us to at least unpack. After unpacking, most of the players went to the pool area just to relax and to catch some rays for the afternoon.

At around 6 we all went out to dinner, and then came back here to just rest up to get ready for today.

The Shorewomen will be taking on Geneseo at 2:20 this afternoon and then will play another game at 6 p.m. against UW-Platteville. The team is excited and ready to see how they match up against squads from all around the country.

Keep checking out the Sho'Blog, as I will be posting more updates from Florida throughout the week.
