In the Zone

"In the Zone"
1. Term used to describe a state of mind whereby a person is performing at peak or optimal performance.
2. Kyle Stem during the last five minutes of last night's game.

In five seasons of men's basketball home games at Washington, I've seen some crazy moments (like this or this), and last night's performance by Kyle Stem ranks right up there - 23 points in the final 5:06 and the game-winning lay-up to lead the Shoremen's rally from 14 points down in a Centennial Conference win over Haverford. I'm not sure if I've ever seen one individual get "in the zone" so suddenly and so completely in a clutch situation.
