Everyone Into the Pool!

The Washington College swim teams dive into their 2005-06 meet schedule this Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. Centennial Conference meet at Gettysburg College. Junior Colin Soper and sophomores Alex Thomas and Brandon Becker are among the Shoremen's top returning swimmers, while 2004 All-American and two-time Academic All-American junior Ally Simons (pictured), junior Liz Shoemaker, junior Caitlin Auger, and sophomore Nicole Ludwig are among the Shorewomen's top returners.

Here's a quick glance at some of the highlights of this year's swim schedule:

11/9 v. Salisbury: The WC swimmers open their home schedule. The swimming version of the Eastern Shore rivalry has traditionally gone in Washington's favor. The Shorewomen are 18-1 all-time against the Sea Gulls, while the Shoremen are 14-1 all-time against Salisbury.

11/16 v. Franklin & Marshall: The Shorewomen and Diplomats have a competitive all-time series, with the Shorewomen leading, 8-7. The Shoremen nearly upset F&M a year ago, falling by just seven points.

2/8 v. Swarthmore: The final dual meet of the season for the Shoremen and Shorewomen pits them against the Garnet Tide. Last year's men's portion of the meet was decided in the final event, which went Swarthmore's way. On the women's side, Swarthmore ended a five-meet losing streak to the Shorewomen with a win last year.

2/17-19 Centennial Conference Championships (at Franklin & Marshall): Enough said.
