Iron-Woman
Danielle Sullivan, an All-American swimmer at Washington College and a 1998 graduate of the school, competed in the Ironman World Championship held Saturday in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. The race is comprised of a 2.4 mile swim, a 112 mile bike ride, and a 26.2 mile run.
The 28-year old Sullivan finished second among women ages 25-29, fourth among all women, and 425th out of the 1,688 competitors who completed the race. She finished the swimming portion in 1:02:25, the cycling portion in 5:31:09, and the running portion in 3:27:19 for a total time of 10:07:27.
Sullivan followed in the footsteps of Kasey Carroll Basso ('92), another All-American swimmer at WC, who finished in the top six in her age group at the Ironman World Championship several years ago.
