WC-Gettysburg WSOC/MSOC Primer
Tomorrow I will be with both men's and women's soccer teams as they travel to Gettysburg for Homecoming Weekend at Gettysburg.
Women's soccer plays the first game of the twinbill at Clark Field on the campus of Gettysburg with kickoff at 1:00 p.m. The Bullets hold an 8-0 all-time mark against the Shorewomen in a series that began in 1999. Gettysburg (3-9-1, 2-3 CC) prevailed last season in Chestertown by a 4-0 margin, with sophomore goalie Caroline Grier making 11 saves. In addition to the team looking for its first ever win over the Bullets, it also looks to score it's first goal since October 6, 2001, when Jordan Rogers connected from Kerry O'Keefe.
Part two of the twinbill begins at 3:30 p.m. when the men take to Clark Field and challenge the Bullets. Last season up in Gettysburg, the Shoremen fell 3-0, despite a penalty kick save by Shoremen goalie Marc Petrucci. Gettysburg (7-5, 3-2 CC) have won 13 of the last 16 meetings dating back to 1961, with two ties. The lone Shoremen victory since 1961 came four years ago with a 1-0 triumph. The two squads played to a 2-2 tie in 2005. From 1947-60, the squads played 10 times, with the Shoremen winning five times and playing to three draws.
For those of you who arrive early, you can catch the Shorewomen Volleyball team in action with a 12:00 p.m. first serve inside Bream Gym.
