Circle Your Calendars - Sailing

The Washington College sailing team was ranked 20th in the final national co-ed rankings of spring 2005. The WC sailors also finished the season ranked fifth in MAISA for co-ed sailing and sixth in MAISA for women's sailing. Here are some highlights from the team's upcoming fall schedule:

9/3-4 Harry Anderson Trophy: This Yale-hosted regatta was the site of one of Washington's all-time highlights in 2003 when WC took home first place to win a co-ed intersectional regatta for the first time ever.

10/8-9 Carl Van Duyne Trophy: Kings Point is the host of this event, the MAISA Men's Singlehanded Championships. Senior Carl Horrocks (above) finished 10th at this event in 2004.

10/15-16 WC Open: Washington's only home regatta of the fall is a district-level event which will feature some of WC's up-and-coming sailors.

10/29-30 War Memorial: The War Memorial, hosted by Old Dominion this fall, is the MAISA Fall Co-Ed Championships. Washington's highest finish at the War (fourth place) came in 2002.

11/5-6 MAISA Fall Women's Championships: New York Maritime is this year's host of the MAISA Fall Women's Championships. The Shorewomen finished sixth at last spring's MAISA Women's Championships.
