Navy 79-37, 3:11 2nd

This promo is the fan of the game and a gift certificate to the Annapolis Mall.

Green has a game-high six rebounds for WC.

I Got To Touch The Ball

A ball went out of bounds and through the press row bunting and I picked it up to hand it to the official. That is an awesome feeling!

Navy 71-30, 7:45 2nd

The promo for the 8 minute timeout was Naval Bagles Shootout Contest where two contestants shot free throws for a $10 gift certificate. The contest was 7-3.

Navy is up 71-30 with Todd Green shooting one and the bonus.

Navy 68-25, 11:58 2nd

The Midshipmen have opened the lead to 22-4. The promotion at this media timeout was the Hampton Inn BWI Contest that was a three-point contest. The contestant picked was from Seattle. Breslin and Green each have a bucket for WC.

8-2 Navy, 15:17 1st

We are at the first media timeout with the Midshipmen leading the Shoremen, 8-2. The first promotion tonight was Galway Bay Lucky Roster Card.

Media timeouts are a very common occurance at the Division I level with very few exceptions when no media is present. They happen after the first deadball after the 16, 12, 8 and 4-minute marks in each half.

Where as in a non-media timeout game you get four fulls and two thirty second timeouts, in a media timeout game you get one full and four thirties. And you lose a thirty if you do not use one in the first half.

Just some of the differences between Div. III and Div. I games.

Navy 6-2, 16:30 1st

The Shoremen got on the board on a scoop shot that banked in by Joey Breslin.

Tip-off

The game has just tipped off. Joey Breslin (WC) and Trey Stanton (Navy) were in the jump ball, with Kevin Marshburn (WC) controlling the tip.

Greetings From Annapolis

Good evening everybody! Phil has handed the blogging responsibilities to me and I will blog throughout the evening. This is the second Div. III-Div. I contest I have attended. On January 26, 1999, during my sophomore year at New Paltz, my alma mater played Army. Army prevailed 77-60, but the best thing from that night was hearing New Paltz mentioned on WFAN! So I got 2/3 of the Division I service academies covered, leaving just Air Force.

Here are tonight's starters:

Washington College: 2-Todd Green, 11-Joey Breslin, 21-Kevin Marshburn, 31-Tim Kohlrus, 34-Matt Hamm

Navy: 3-Greg Sprink, 10-Corey Johnson, 15-Trey Stanton, 24-Kaleo Kina, 33-Adam Teague

More to come from the state capital of Maryland!

Live from Alumni Hall

I'm courtside here at Alumni Hall as both teams are out on the court for warm-ups. I just enjoyed a nice pregame meal in the hospitality room - something not quite as common in Division III.

A couple other things you won't often find in Division III - Navy's brand new video cube scoreboard hanging above center court and media timeouts, which will be included tonight for WNAV's radio broadcast.

More to come near game time.

Stepping Up

The Washington College men's basketball team heads to Annapolis tonight to take on Division I Navy. This will be the Shoremen's third meeting with the Midshipmen in the past four years.

Navy will be providing live stats (CSTV's Gametracker), live radio (via WNAV), and live video on the web (via CSTV's All-Access). Free registration is required for the live video feed. Links to all three can be found on and .

We will be augmenting that coverage with blog updates throughout the evening right here on the Sho'Blog.

1000 Wins

The men's basketball program began play in the 1912-13 season and has five 20 or more win seasons, including a perfect 20-0 in 1924-25. The 1989-90 squad holds the record for victories in a season with 25.

Congrats To Shoremen Hoops!

Halftime From Haverford

Yes, this is a surprise blog!! I am able to do this since I am calling for Ryan (and he says hello to all of you and misses you all) I have a chance to do this blog at half. For those of you curious, Louie Richardson is doing the book, which I was originally supposed to do, but circumstances changed matters. Anyways, Elise Conway has nine rebounds for WC. Brianne Slizofksi has five points to lead the Shorewomen.
